For a while now our efforts to bring The Greys to the people of the world have been stifled by the fact that we can barely string together enough non-English words to order a baguette in a café. We did catch a lucky break with a Spanish translation of one of our comics (which led to a sharp rise in visitors from South America), but now I’m delighted to announce that we have translators for both Indonesian and Italian.

The Indonesian translations will be provided by Syahban. He’s been a supporter of our comics for a while, with links from his Indonesian forum about Open Source software at forum.pingoein.com.

For Italian we have not one, but two people who are generously donating their time to translate some comics. They are Marina and spaventapasseri, both from inkscapeforum.it (which also has an International Section, where English speakers are welcomed).

Coincidentally both Syahban and Marina decided to start at the beginning, so our first comic now sports a pair of flags near the bottom which link to the translated versions. Keep an eye out for flags appearing in more comics in the future.

If you want to keep an eye on the progress of the translations, I’ve set up a Google Docs spreadsheet. It’s a little sparse right now, but hopefully will fill up in time. Although there’s a Spanish column, it’s just there to hold the one Spanish translation we have, so we would be happy to hear from anyone who would like to translate one or more of our strips.

We would also be more than happy to add a few more columns to the spreadsheet. So if you’re fluent in Finnish, natter in Norwegian, mutter in Mandarin or converse in Klingon we would love to hear from you. Just get in touch with us and we can give you more of an idea of what is involved.
